Thursday 17th October saw the launch of Winter ‘Elf at The Willows Project – our first day in a ten week scheme we are running thanks to a successful funding bid.
We had a great day spent in the beautiful autumn sunshine, introducing the participants to the farm and the project, activities including seed saving and making natural infused oils and sharing a delicious meal made from veg grown on the community farm.
The scheme is centered around the Five Ways to Wellbeing principles; to Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Learn and Give.
Our first session was designed around Taking Notice, as we spent the morning on a photo walk around the farm. Photography has been described as ‘a way of seeing things’, seeing what others may not notice, seeing things from our own unique angles and perspectives and capturing that moment in time. It can help us be mindful by focusing our awareness to the present moment, slowing our minds and bodies down as we take notice of the details and the richness around us; from wide landscapes or skyscapes to the tiny insect or fallen leaf.
